Say Goodbye to WWW

I’ve just re-programmed my site to no longer include any “www” in any of the URLs. I believe “www” is now completely extraneous and not at all necessary. We’ve evolved beyond that and I’m pretty sure I’m like way ahead of my time on this. Well actually, there’s a small but growing movement in the...

Features Added

I’m really liking the WordPress platform so far. I’ve already added several features that were surprisingly easy to add via plug-ins.
One that I just added last night is my contact form (at the top navbar above) complete with captcha (the anti-spam 4 digit code that you have to type before submitting to prove you are...

New Blog Design!

You may have noticed that I’ve just changed to a different blog design. I’ve moved to a WordPress blog.
You might ask, “Why would I move from a custom-designed blog to a WordPress one?” The answer is simple-my old blog by Flosites was having a lot of trouble, posts would mysteriously vanish and the administration...

Funny that you say that "After getting no response from them on more than one occasion" if you want an itinery of when we replied to your support quotes please don;t hesitate to ask, we have replied within 3 days of every inquiry as stated on our autoresponse, if not we didnt receive your email. regardsJune 22, 2008 - 12:43 am

Supercharge Your Canon Point and Shoot Camera With Open Source Firmware

This is pretty cool-you can upload an open source modified firmware to many Canon point and shoot cameras to give you RAW compatibility, super high shutter speeds and more:

whitney - I noticed you used the Canon SD790 IS for the display picture of this article regarding 'open source modified firmware'. I am in the market for a new point and shoot camera and was interested in this option for my new camera. However, after following the embedded link, I was not able to find the 790 on the compatibility list. Do you know if it is compatible with this option (ie. CHDK)? Is there a camera similar to this you would recommend? Thanks.June 8, 2008 - 9:59 am

Tristan - @whitney - I meant to use the Canon SD870IS for the image in the post since that's the point and shoot model that I have. I've now updated that. That said, I believe they should be adding the SD790 IS to CHDK soon.June 8, 2008 - 10:17 am

Video Tutorial - How To Back Up Your MySQL Database

This is a bit of a geek tech. video. I made it for anyone with a CMS blog that uses MySQL. It shows how to back up your MySQL database, which you should do periodically in addition to maintaining a backup of your webserver files via FTP.

If you have a custom blog, Wordpress, Expression Engine...

Video Tutorial - How To Easy Straighten An Image Using Photoshop

I just made a quick video tutorial explaining a super easy and quick way to straighten crooked or skewed images using Adobe Photshop. If you already know how to do this, it’s going to seem very simple, but if you don’t know how, it can be a real time saver. Check it out:

Review of the Herman Miller Mirra office chair

After several years of ownership, my Herman Miller Aeron chair was starting to feel a bit worn out. The mesh seat and back on it were feeling stretched out and loose and the chair was generally not as comfortable as it used to be when it was new. Plus, being the B size, it was...

Jo - I am considering between Aeron and Mirra. Prices for both in Bangkok, Thailand are quite same as 1,285USD and 1,222USD respectively. I need to wait for 1-2 months for Mirra after putting order. Both are great, but I have only 30 minutes trial at dealer show room (there is only one dealer here). So need to find more review and information from long-term owner for pros and cons of each.November 17, 2008 - 7:03 am

Tristan - @Jo - Here in the USA The Mirra costs less so it's more bang for the buck. If the cost of the Aeron is similar and more readily available where you are, I would probably go for the Aeron. I like The Mirra but really, you can't go wrong with either chair.November 17, 2008 - 4:12 pm

Adobe Photoshop CS3 Installation Woes

A while back, I wrote about some serious Adobe Photoshop CS3 installation problems I was having. I said that Adobe’s installer basically sucks.
Well, John Nack, an Adobe employee, couldn’t agree with me more. In the comments section of his blog in response to my post, he states:
“Our installer sucks beyond belief. I’m sorry for–and quite...
