You can easily use HostGator + Amazon S3 at the same time, making it cheap and reliable. I just ran into the same problem, Bluehost told me the max file count I can have is 50k! I previously held Bluehost in a very high regard, and I tried to inquire about more expensive hosting packages but they kept saying they don't offer any.
