I just finished editing shots from a photo shoot I did with Karen-current UC Berkeley student and grad school applicant extraordinaire. And I’ve been playing with a cool piece of equipment that I recently got-an Alien Bees Ringflash. These shots were lit with the ringflash at various settings.
 While I can’t say I’ve completely mastered the use of ringflash, I think the results I’ve been getting so far are pretty good.
 And getting someone as photogenic as Karen to model for you doesn’t hurt!

3 comments Last weekend, my friend Elvin and I drove up to Sacramento to visit Lou and Laila, who recently had twins. Lou and Laila are great people whom I’ve known for many years (I’ve known Lou since I was in college and still remember the day I met Laila when Lou brought her to a Las Vegas vacation a group of us took). I always thought that some day, if they ever had kids, they would make great parents. And I can tell I was right! Anyway, I really like how this shot of Laila holding Zoe turned out, I just had to share it:
